Seminars

The free seminar programme proved hugely popular at the Pro Audio Showcase ’09 and we are once again providing a separate room for small seminar presentations. Seminars are planned to be of 45 minute duration, which allows for up to half a dozen presentations from a mix of local and international specialists each day.

Seminar Schedule*


Following are brief descriptions of the Seminars and Presenters planned for the Pro Audio Showcase 2011. The seminar programme will begin at 11am each day with the two hour-long ProTools Drum Mastery presentation by Brent Heber. Other seminars in the programme will be 45 minutes to one hour in duration. Please note that Wednesday is the show’s ‘late night’, closing at 7pm, while it will wrap up on Thursday at 4pm.

WEDNESDAY July 27: (show closes at 7pm)

11.00am
Subject: ProTools Drum Mastery (two hours)
Presenter: Brent Heber, In-house Engineer, Sumsound at Trackdown, Sydney
Covering: In this double-length session Brent Heber (Avid Certified Instructor at UTS:ProSchool in Sydney and author of ProTools Professional video blog) digs down into the features that helped establish ProTools as an industry standard.
• Detailed instruction on how to get the most out of Beat Detective,
• How to build a solid tempo map
• How to make Elastic audio jump to your command when working with drum tracks
These are just a few of the secrets being imparted in this must attend workshop! If you work with live drums or loops and samples in PT, you’re bound to find time saving ideas in this valuable session.

Presenters: Haresh Bhana and Stephen Buckland of Wireless Users NZ will update attendees on developments with Digital Switchover for digital television and how they affect radio microphone users.

2pm:
Subject: Managing broadcast sound for international sporting events
Presenter: Philipp Hey, Lawo International Sales and Support Engineer, Germany.
Covering: Lawo continue to be involved with most of the world’s largest international sporting events, providing audio routing and mixing hardware, expertise and consultation.

Subject: Common concerns regarding AC power quality when installing premium A/V systems for professional sound, recording, and broadcast.
Presenter: Garth Powell, Furman Sound Senior Product Designer, USA
Includes: Avoiding lock-ups and compromised data and signal quality by proper utilization of technologies such as:
• AC surge protection
• linear filtration of AC line noise
• balanced power isolation
• voltage regulation
• power sequencing
• transient power factor correction
